Qwanoes Summer Staff 2024
Administrative Positions:
Serve God in a critical ministry capacity this summer, using your skills and experience in the key area of administration to help keep everything together and running smoothly. Many of these positions require a higher level of training and experience, and offer challenge and responsibility to the motivated leader.
Camp Store Manager
Apr. 30 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $12000; Qwanoes contributes $6300 if needed.)
Responsible for managing the Tuck Shop, Ice Cream Island, Shave Ice Palace, and Club Coco, overseeing store staff, and providing administrative support in a variety of areas. Must have good organizational and communication skills, computer experience and/or training in general office management. Required to attend Staff Leadership Orientation.
Assistant Camp Store Manager
May. 14 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $8900; Qwanoes contributes $4500 if needed.)
Responsible for assisting with managing the camp stores with a specific focus on hosting and operating Ice Cream Island. Must have good organizational and communication skills. Previous training and/or experience in a retail food service environment is helpful but not necessary. Also may assist with other administrative or program support as required.
Club Coco Host
Apr. 30 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $10750; Qwanoes contributes $5200 if needed.)
Responsible for hosting and operating Club Coco and is part of the Camp Store team. Club Coco is a favourite hangout and activity area at Qwanoes. Position includes operating the food/store of Club Coco and coordinating the activity portion with the Land Activity Leader. Must have good organizational and communication skills. Previous training and/or experience in a retail food environment is helpful but not necessary. Also may assist with other administrative or program support as required.
Shave Ice Host
Jun. 21 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $6800; Qwanoes contributes $3200 if needed.)
Responsible for hosting and operating Shave Ice Palace and is part of the Camp Store Team. Must have good organizational and communication skills. Previous training and/or experience in a retail food service environment is helpful but not necessary. Also serves as a part of the All-Star team, assisting in organizing and leading events. Assists with other stores and administrative tasks as required.
Dockside Host
Jun. 21 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $6800; Qwanoes contributes $3200 if needed.)
Responsible for hosting and operating the camp’s new store at Qwanoes Beach, and is part of the Camp Store Team. Must have good organizational and communication skills. Also serves as a part of the All-Star team, assisting in organizing and leading events, assists with other stores and administrative tasks as required.
Administrative Assistant
Apr. 30 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $11500; Qwanoes contributes $5500 if needed.)
Provides administrative support in a variety of areas, including registration and assisting with various administrative tasks as required, as well as helping in the camp store. Requires good organizational skills, computer experience, and knowledge of popular computer programs including Word and Excel. For a related position, see Registrar Assistant.
Laundry/Lost & Found Coordinator
May. 21 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $8300; Qwanoes contributes $4050 if needed.)
Responsible for organizing and running the daily staff laundry service and for the organizing and running of lost and found. Must have a current driver’s license (class 4 is an asset). Inquire about earlier Advance Crew option.
Laundry Assistant/Support
Jun. 21 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $6800; Qwanoes contributes $3200 if needed.)
Involves assisting the Laundry Coordinator with organizing and running the daily staff laundry service and lost and found. A current driver’s license is helpful. The role may include occasionally assisting with activities according to abilities and your schedule. Inquire about earlier Advance Crew option. If you can’t make it all summer, come as a volunteer for one or more weeks!
First Aid Attendant
Apr. 30 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $12000; Qwanoes contributes $6300 if needed.)
Coordinates and/or assists with all aspects of camp health, including first aid, health care, training staff, communication with parents, general maintenance, administration and general program support. Must have previous experience and current training in advanced first aid (min. OFA Level 3), and good organizational, people and caring skills. Inquire about earlier Advance Crew option. Required to attend Staff Leadership Orientation. Inquire about Health Care Team Leader addition.
First Aid Assistant
May. 21 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $8300; Qwanoes contributes $4050 if needed.)
Assists the First Aid Attendant and Health Care Team Leader by providing first aid and administrative support, purchasing and stocking medical supplies, and ensuring necessary records are current. Must have previous experience and current training in first aid (min. OFA Level 1, prefer Level 2 or 3) and good organizational, people and caring skills. Must have current driver’s license (class 4 is an asset).
Lead Nurse
Jun. 21 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $8700; Qwanoes contributes $4200 if needed.)
Assists with all aspects of camp health care, including first aid, medications, training staff, communicatiion with parents, administration and assisting with leading/orienting weekly nurses. Must be a current RN (first aid training is an asset) and have good organizational, people and caring skills. Inquire about earlier Advance Crew option and Health Care Team Leader addition.
Doctor/Nurse
Jun. 21 to Aug. 31 Serve from one week to two months (Volunteer Position)
One to two medical doctors or qualified RN’s are needed at each camp to work in conjunction with the health care team. Minimum basic first aid training is an asset.
Child Care/Support
May. 14 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $7900; Qwanoes contributes $3700 if needed.)
Involves the care of camp staff children on a part-time basis. May also include general support in other areas such as administration, program or operations, according to abilities, experience and child care schedule. Must be at least 18 and have previous experience and a passion for caring for young children. Previous completion of a recognized early childhood credential is an asset. Inquire even if you are not able to arrive until June 21. If you are younger than 18, please inquire about opportunities to come as a volunteer for a week or more. Staff Concierge
May. 2 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $10000; Qwanoes contributes $4850 if needed.)
Responsible for helping to assist and care for summer staff in practical ways and helping facilitate the meeting of observed needs. For example: obtaining requested items from town, banking, helping with fall course registration, booking tickets, assisting with staff events and problem-solving for our busy staff team. As a key part of the Staffing Team, will assist staffing as needed. Requires resourcefulness and excellent organizational and communication skills. Inquire about earlier Advance Crew option.
Camp Grandparents
Jun. 21 to Aug. 31 Serve from one week to two months (Volunteer Position)
Each week we seek two to four people to serve as Camp Grandparents to be available to love, support, pray for, and be available to campers and staff. Grandparents are welcome to stay for one or more weeks, even the entire summer.
Or, come as a volunteer! We have openings every week for those who cannot commit their whole summer but are available for one or more weeks.
Follow-Up Assistant/Activity Leader
Jun. 21 to Aug. 31 (Support Goal: $6800; Qwanoes contributes $3200 if needed.)
Assists with coordinating the follow-up of campers. Includes corresponding and coordinating with churches, collecting and inputting camper information, selecting churches for campers, sending reports and assisting counselors with follow-up. There is a Post-Summer Wrap-Up option where you could stay until October 4 to continue follow-up and assist with the planning of the Qwanoes Road Tour in late September. Inquire about the earlier Advance Crew Option.
Health & Ferry Driver
Jun. 21 to Aug. 31 Serve from one week to two months (Volunteer Position)
Responsible for assisting with transportation needs of staff and campers/guests primarily to hospitals, clinics, ferry terminals, and airports. Must have a class 5 driver’s license (class 4 is an asset) and supply a driver’s abstract. Must be at least 20.

Ferry Supervision Assistant
Jun. 21 to Aug. 31 Serve on the first and last day of each camp for one or more weeks (Volunteer Position)
Assists the Qwanoes Transportation Coordinator in bringing campers from Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal to Duke Point Ferry Terminal on the first day of every camp and then from Duke Point to Tsawwassen on the last day of each camp. Qwanoes will cover all ferry costs.

General Support
Jun. 21 to Aug. 31 Serve from one week to two months (Volunteer Position)
Assists with a variety of general support duties including driving, luggage, laundry, purchasing, errands, administrative support, staffing, etc.
